About Me - Cesar Lador

My name is Cesar Lador, I am a dad, engineer by trade and a dreamer by night, like many of you!

​

I have a passion for illustration, children's books and comic books. So when I am not having good times with my family or in the outdoors, I love exploring my imagination, making up stories and building imaginary worlds! I am a self taught artist and have been drawing as long as I can remember.

​

I am currently the New Zealand illustrator coordinator for the society of children book writers and illustrators (SCBWI) and am (normally) based on the beautiful New Zealand West Coast. I am also an active member of Kids Comics Unite, an online community of authors and illustrators working on comic book projects for kids.

 

Some of my children's book illustrations have been shortlisted and awarded runner-up at the Margaret Mahy Award hosted by Hachette New Zealand in 2020 and 2022. In 2023 I became a full time comic book artist and started to illustrate the Miles and Jones comic book series written by New Zealand comedian Sam Smith.

I am currently represented by Ariana Philips at Jean V. Naggar Literary Agency.
